== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is JB Atomic Analytics cloud-based? =

The core analytics data collected by JB Atomic Analytics is stored in your WordPress database. Optional external services are documented below.

= Do I need an account to use the Free edition? =

No paid license is required to use the Free analytics features. Freemius connectivity is used for optional account, licensing, upgrade and related product-management features.

= Does JB Atomic Analytics support privacy controls? =

Yes. JB Atomic Analytics includes configurable retention, DNT/GPC support, consent/CMP settings, WordPress privacy-policy helper text, and WordPress personal-data export/erasure integration.

These tools can assist with privacy management, but no plugin can guarantee legal compliance. Site administrators remain responsible for configuring the plugin and their privacy disclosures for their jurisdiction and use case.

= Does JB Atomic Analytics use IP addresses? =

JB Atomic Analytics may process IP addresses as part of visitor and network analytics depending on the enabled settings. External IP geolocation is optional and disabled by default.

= What happens if I enable IP geolocation? =

When IP geolocation is enabled, JB Atomic Analytics can send an IP address to the `ipwho.is` service to resolve approximate location and network information. See the External Services section below.

= What is the difference between Free and Pro? =

The Free edition contains the complete functionality shipped in the WordPress.org package. Pro is a separately distributed package that adds additional modules such as realtime analytics, heatmaps, paths/funnels, exports and blocking/security features.

== Privacy ==

JB Atomic Analytics stores core analytics data in the WordPress database of the site where it is installed.

Depending on the administrator's configuration, JB Atomic Analytics may process information such as:

* IP addresses.
* Pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers.
* Visited URLs and page titles.
* Referrers.
* Browser, operating system and device information.
* Technical analytics events.
* Optional approximate geolocation and network information.

New installations default to external geolocation being disabled and GPC/DNT being respected.

JB Atomic Analytics registers helpers for the WordPress privacy-policy guide and WordPress personal-data export/erasure tools.

Site administrators are responsible for choosing appropriate settings, retention periods, consent mechanisms and privacy disclosures for their website. JB Atomic Analytics does not guarantee compliance with any specific law or regulation.

== External Services ==

JB Atomic Analytics can communicate with the following external services under specific circumstances.

= Freemius =

JB Atomic Analytics includes the Freemius SDK for optional product account features, licensing, upgrades and customer-support workflows. The Free edition distributed through WordPress.org is updated through WordPress.org.

When a site administrator chooses to connect or opt in to Freemius functionality, the plugin communicates with Freemius servers as required to provide those features. The Free analytics functionality does not require the purchase of a paid license.

Freemius Privacy Policy: https://freemius.com/privacy/

= ipwho.is / IPWhois =

JB Atomic Analytics can use `https://ipwho.is/` for optional IP geolocation. This feature is disabled by default.

When an administrator explicitly enables IP geolocation and a lookup is required, the visitor IP address is sent to the service to obtain approximate country, region, city, ISP and related network information. The returned information can be cached locally according to the plugin settings.

Terms of Service: https://ipwhois.io/terms

= Tor Project exit-address list =

If Tor detection is enabled, JB Atomic Analytics downloads the public Tor exit-address list from the Tor Project. Visitor data is not sent to the Tor Project for this check; the downloaded list is compared locally.
